The most comfortable scandals I’ve had.grest for traveling in EuropeThese are the real Mcoy- Mephisto Sharks at a price that got to them while my current pair is still in good shape. so a price too good to pass up. They are my third pair so I confirm their authenticity. My only concern is that they did not arrive in a Mephisto box but in a sealed plastic bag and Mephisto retails these sandals in box with paper wrapping. I asked the seller and they speculated the box may have been damaged in shipping or something. I think they may be returns but they do not look used at all? Regardless, for the price and the authentic product I would repurchase here again without hesitation. For me, it was about $115.00 savingsThese sandals cost nearly 3 times what I pay for my 'Reference' sandal (Ecco Coba), which I am was fairly happy with but would end up replacing each summer, as by the end they would feel "dead" to me.The leather on the sandals is nice looking and soft to the touch. The materials used for padding of the inside of the straps and heel (facing the foot) is very comfortable and almost luxurious feeling. The footbed is firm and comfortable, and require only a couple hours of wear to conform to your feet.The only cons that I can see at this point (besides the price):- The length of the footbed seems to be spot on to size, but the width may be wider than other sandals. A bit wider than my Ecco's which for me is a good thing. - I don't feel there is enough slack in the straps to get them as tight as I would like, and should the leather stretch a bit, they may become more loose fitting. But could also be the fact that my old sandals had three straps (one on heel as well) which allowed me to better customize the feel.TL;DR : Expensive, but probably worth it.END OF SEASON UPDATE:After wearing these for most of a full summer season, I eventually went back to wearing my Ecco's because in the end, are a good deal more comfortable than these. These do look nicer, and I'm sure will last a good long time - but just aren't as comfortable as a pair of $100-120 Ecco's.Incredibly comfortable Euro manufactured sandals by Mephisto of France. They add comfort to the overall leather and leather-like materials by using a suede footbed rather than plain leather or synthetic. This helps avoid sweating. There is a patented shock absorbing insert on the bottom sole in the heel area, which adds to the comfort for all day walking. Warning: if you are a heavyweight, or for anyone over a couple years of use, the shock absorber will fall out of the shoes. Then you can sign up for the Mephisto refurbishment program! They will rebuild your precious expensive sandals for a little over a hundred bucks, in about 4-6 weeks, and get them back to you while you suffer on some lame cheap other sandals. The size conversion from EU size numbers over to the US sizes is a bit inexact. If you fall into the range of 8.5-9.0-9.5-10.0 US, you'll need to decide if your EU sizes are in the 42-43-44 range.In THIS model, the 9.5 US is closer to 43 than 44. It is unclear how exactly the box they send you will be marked, size-wise.I first bought these 20 years ago due to a broken toe. I didn’t want to wear the boot the doctor gave me and he said these would work as well. They used to make the women’s version, for some reason they discontinued them. Fortunately, for me, the men’s size 6 works perfectly! I have not been able to find a sandal that I can comfortably wear with/without socks. True, they are not all that attractive but who cares they are sooo comfortable. Great to wear walking, shopping or any other activity. They are pricey and they are well worth the money.I do not write many reviews, but I had to for these Sandals. This is my first pair of Mephisto shoes of any kind. I have for, knee and back issues. They are all better by quote a bit when I can wear these. I am beiginnig to wear to work and really do not care if anyone does not like them.....they are very expensive, the most I have ever paid for a sandal......but if they pst as long as other reviewers have said, they are worth every dollar! Love the feel of the insole, not too cushy.....but exactly the right amount of support. The straps are what seems the most different than most sandals, they are extremely comfortable and easy to put on and remove. I am sold on this brand and shoe.......and I have over 30 pairs of other shoes I could wear...Normally I wait a while, sometimes a long while, to rate products. These sandals, however, deserve a prompt 5 stars. I had a pair (of "Sharks") for 10 years starting 20 years ago. My wife made a gift to me of Mephisto "Allrounder" sandals 10 years ago, and they were top notch too. When they needed replacement last month, I got the Sharks again; I'm thrilled! It hardly occurs to me to take them off after a whole day of wear; their comfort is "transparent," if that makes sense. It's a little too early to say, but I think these Sharks keep stones from getting between my foot and the sandal better than the Allrounder's. At first impression, the price seems high, but $28 per year for sandals I look forward to wearing every day for 6-or-more months each year...they're a *great* deal.Most comfortable.Very nice sandal and looks to be very good quality.
